Kendra Armstrong is a 1988 Graduate of Rhodes College, where she majored in Psychology. She obtained a Master of Science Degree in General Psychology in 1991 from the University of Memphis, with an emphasis in counseling. In 1993 she obtained her Juris Doctor degree from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis.

While in law school, Ms. Armstrong served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Shelby County Criminal Court Judges, and she was a member of the Moot Court Board.

After receiving her law degree in May of 1993, Kendra Armstrong served as the Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable G. Harvey Boswell, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Western District of Tennessee, Eastern Division. She held this position through August of 1995, when she went into private practice as an associate attorney with the former law firm of Rice, Smith, Bursi, Veazey & Amundsen, L.L.P.C., and in July of 1999, Ms. Armstrong became a member of that firm. In April of 2001 she opened the firm of Jewell & Armstrong, P.C. in Cordova, Tennessee, and in April of 2005, she began working as a solo practitioner.

Ms. Armstrong practices almost exclusively in the area of family law.

Kendra Armstrong has previously served on the Tennessee Family Law Code Commission, and has served on the Executive Council of the Family Law Section of the Tennessee Bar Association. She is also a Family Law Mediator, certified by the American Association of Christian Counselors, and has spoken professionally before other practicing attorneys and written on the topics of bankruptcy and the impact of bankruptcy on the dissolution of marriage.

As a result of her undergraduate and graduate studies in psychology and counseling, she has a great deal of experience working with individual family members from a counseling perspective. Her experience includes working primarily in the children’s unit of a psychiatric care facility for two years, conducting anger management classes for offenders of domestic violence, counseling with victims of domestic violence, and facilitating dispute resolution through the Shelby County Pre-Trial Services. She has also worked extensively with family members of individuals suffering from alcohol addiction and with family members of compulsive gamblers.

A traditionally published author and divorce recovery mentor, Kendra Armstrong is passionately engaged in community outreach, speaking to divorce recovery, church, and various community groups, and she was named the 2011 Pro Bono Attorney of the Year by the Memphis Bar Association.

Kendra Armstrong is a member of Hope Presbyterian Church in Cordova, Tennessee, where she is active in various adult and children’s ministries and where she has served as a deacon.
